The Vanguard Media Group Honours Kebila Junior for Outstanding Professionalism in Pidgin Broadcast


Kebila Sylvester receiving award from Chifu Edward, Publisher of the Vanguard Newspaper


Kebila Sylvester Junior popularly known as Pidkin for Mac-chi has been crowned the 2024 Best Pidgin language Radio broadcaster.

The award was conferred on him by the Vanguard Media Group during its Icon international award at TalOtel in Bafoussam, Saturday 19th April, 2025.

While conferring the award to him, The Publisher of The Vanguard Newspaper, Chifu Edward, remarked that "I have never met this guy but the manner in which he delivers his stories is not only compelling but very professional. I can assure that the way he speaks has greatly contributed to the peace and development we now enjoy in Bamenda." Chifu Edward said.

Pikin for Mac-chi who doubles as station's Manager of Bamenda-based Dream FM Radio in a chat with The Observer revealed that the purpose of his media Organ is for peace and development.

"That is our slogan. We report to bring back normalcy in the region and we strongly condemn vandalism, kidnapping and killing which have characterised the ongoing crisis." Kebila Sylvester said.

He went further to say that "I try to be as professional as I can. I have colleagues who have greatly helped to impact my career. Once I have an issue which is controversial, I seek advice. If it is too controversial, we do gatekeeping." This has greatly kept me out of trouble." Kebila said.


While dedicating the award to his listeners for their unalloyed support, he promised to continue doing his best in telling stories for the development of the city of Bamenda.

Kebila Junior is known to have held public authorities to account on the state of development of Bamenda, held both the separatists and uniform officers on atrocities committed during the almost 9 years armed conflict.


His dedication and commitment to news delivery on Dream FM Radio and Star TV in Bamenda has been saluted across the board.
