Members of the North West Regional Assembly have adopted seven key resolutions which will impact the life of the assembly going forward.

After three days of deliberations, the Regional Assembly Members adopted the 2024 Administrative, Management, Finance controller, Regional Treasurer and stores accountant reports.

Speaking as he presented his 2024 performance report, the President of the Assembly, Prof Fru Angwafo III explained how funds were spent and lives impacted.

Prof Fru Angwafo III acknowledged that the assembly was unable to construct the Tourism Information Center in 2024 due to lack of available land. He said "we will return to the table and we will break the deadlock."

The key indicator of the March 2025 ordinary session was the adjustment of the 2025 budget which was balanced at 5.6 billion Francs.

The new budget of the Regional Assembly for 2025 stands at 10.3 billion. This increment stems from the protocol agreement signed on the 27th March 2025 with the National Coordinator of the Local Governance and resilient project, PROLOG, Herve Jackson Ngia Edielle to the tune of 3.4 billion Francs.

The five carefully selected intercommunal projects were presented in: Education: Improvement of infrastructure and equipment of GTHS Nkwen (Mezam Division, Bamenda III) – FCFA 659.3 million, Commerce: Construction of the North Western Mutan Modern Market (Mezam Division, Bamenda III) – FCFA 412.7 million, Health: Expansion of Mankon District Hospital (Mezam Division, Bamenda II) – FCFA 750.8 million, Education: Enhancement of infrastructure, security, and equipment at GTHS Nkambe (Donga Mantung Division) – FCFA 659.3 million and Health: Strengthening infrastructure and sustainability at Ndop District Hospital (Ngoketunjia Division, Ndop) – FCFA 618.4 million

These projects, totaling FCFA 3.410, 496, 881, align with the government’s decentralization strategy and are expected to improve service delivery, boost economic activities, and enhance access to quality education and healthcare.

Another deliberation voted was to authorize the Regional Executive Council to sign a protocol agreement with the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions to finance 12 projects to the sum of 610 million Francs.

Adopted in 2024, the PPRD can have multiple implementing partners of which the North West Regional Assembly has positioned itself to be one. This will give the assembly the urge to execute projects whose competences are not yet devolved to the regions like the reconstruction of destroyed palaces.

Commenting on the increase in the budget, Prof Fru Angwafo III said, "The budget adjustment gives us 4 billion more but of course our Regional Development plan says over five years we were supposed to spend over 2250 billion. So we have to discipline ourselves to use whatever money we have judiciously. People who benefit today will not be the same people who benefit tomorrow. In time, we will cover the entire region. We are very happy for the increase in budget from government through PROLOG." Prof Fru Angwafo said.

The Regional Assembly recorded a 98% performance rate in 2025.
