The Mayor of Bamenda II Council has encouraged the Anglophone community living in Bantoum III, Nde Division of the West Region to work together, harness their resources, through the spirit of a cooperative
Mayor Chenwi Peter was speaking on Monday 14th April 2025 during a stopover on his way from Yaounde in Bantoum.
Recognized by the Anglophone community as one who promotes living together and social cohesion, the leaders of the anglophone community expressed their desire to own birth certificates and marriage certificates.
Mayor Chenwi Peter assured them that he will work with the Mayor of Bagangnte to make this a reality in the shortest possible time.
He encouraged the Anglophone community to live in peace, collaborate with their host community and foster the development of the area.
"We the Anglophones are hardworking people. We are known for our resilience. For you people to better your lives here, work together. Harness your resources and save for the future. I recommend a cooperative for you people. One that brings you people together to discuss your successes and find possible solutions to your challenges.
"I have heard the request from your leaders and I can assure you that it will be done in alliance with the Mayor of Bagangnte." Mayor Chenwi Peter said.
The largely farming population praised the remarks of the Mayor and assured the Mayor of their commitment to living together, national unity and prosperity.
