Bamenda I Councillors Adopt 2024 Accounts, Completes 10 projects




Councillors of Bamenda I Council have adopted the 2024 Administrative and Management Accounts of the council, balanced in income and expenditure at 612 million Francs.

After examining the accounts, a total of 14 projects were earmarked and 10 have been completed at 100 percent. 

Speaking to the Press, Mayor Mbigha Njah Felix said the council was able to construct and fence the women's empowerment centre, construct an Agric post, rehabilitated two block of two classrooms each at GS Ntoh, equipment of the Bamenda I Council Youth multipurpose training center, construction of a theatre block at the Bamenda I subdivisional hospital, rehabilitated the good shepherd home at Abangoh quarter.

The council was able to open numerous roads and constructed bridges in 2024.

This was possible through enormous collaboration with quarter heads and the Bamendakwe Cultural and Development Association, BAMECA. 

The ability to collect more revenue in 2025 as compared to 2020, Mayor Mbigha Felix says it is the combined efforts of the councillors and council staff. He predicted that the Bamenda I Council will do better in revenue collection in the coming years.

The councillors also examined and adopted some deliberations to better the income generation of the council and also to make life easier.

One authorizing the Mayor to open and run a quarry. "We have a lot of rocks in our community and we can extract gravel and sell to the market and we can generate funds from there that can develop this community." Mayor Mbigha hinted.

The council also addressed the water shortage currently witnessed in the Municipality. The council intends to contract a loan from the Islamic Development Bank to construct and expand the water scheme in the Municipality. "We want to provide a good water scheme to the population of Bamendakwe and it is possible." 

The representative of the SDO of Mezam praised the Councillors for their incisive questions that generated responses from the Mayor. He praised the Councillors and the council administration for their knack in development
