Councillors of Bali Council have unanimously voted the 2024 Administrative and Management Accounts of the council.
Meeting in session on Thursday 10th April 2025, the councillors applauded the Mayor for his steadfastness and commitment to the development of the Municipality despite the challenges.
The council for 2024 realized a budget of 650.4 million Francs which was dedicated towards improvement in electricity supply in the Municipality which stands at 90%, extension of the water supply chain to neighbourhoods not connected to the water grid.
In agriculture, the council was able to open farm to market roads like the 4km Ngwandikang road and the donation of farm inputs to farmers.
Bali Council also proceeded with the construction of a borehole at the youth empowerment centre in Gwan-Bali, a fence around GNS Bali, the construction of 16 market sheds in Bawock. The construction of meat sheds in Njenka Hausa, construction of a borehole with solar panel at Njenka Hausa and the construction of a bridge linking Ngalingom and Nkombella have seen the light of day.
Mayor Wandum Ernest used the Administrative and Management Accounts session to congratulate the councillors for working closely with the council administration for the realization of these projects despite the challenges posed on the ground largely that of insecurity.
He challenged the councillors to work in tandem with the neighbourhood committees recently created from the identification and maturation of projects that will be budgeted for.
One of the major challenges facing the Municipality as highlighted is the enrollment of pupils and students in schools as well the effective functioning of schools in the Municipality. A situation which Mayor Wandum said is a priority for the council in 2025.
"It has been a significant challenge to have schools run in Bali effectively over the last few years. We are committed and we are working with the education stakeholders to ensure that schools are effective in Bali for the 2024/2025 academic year. We are also encouraging our brothers and sisters who fled the village to come back and resume their activities." Mayor Wandum said.
The council also plans to complete the construction of all integrated health centers in 2025 and improve significantly on the collection of local revenue.
The councillors proposed strategies to be used to attain the realization of the objectives of the council for 2025.
