In anticipation of the grand public opening of the Atoghu Fashion Festival 2025 this Saturday, a closed-door technical session will take place this Friday, 25 April 2025, exclusively for registered participants and media professionals.

The day, described by organisers as a platform for deep reflection, exchange, and capacity building, will bring together fashion designers, academics, cultural promoters, and legal minds to discuss and unpack the symbolic, cultural, economic, and legal dimensions of the Atoghu cloth considered the pride of the Grassfield.

Highlights of the day include expert presentations on:

The Symbols and Meanings of Atoghu Designs by Dr. Okwen Patrick

Inclusive Marketing strategies by designer Mrs. Armelle Nogning

Government Cultural Policy on Fashion and Style by Divisional Delegate Mrs. Caroline Ngeloh

Intellectual Property Rights and a case for registering Atoghu as a Geographical Indication (GI) by Prof. Nganzi Theodore and INA Akumbu L. Jones of Black Swagger Inc.

Breakout sessions will feature panel discussions on North West Fashion Designers Association (NOFADA) regulations and membership benefits, and documentation and preservation of Atoghu, with a special joint session on Leadership in Fashion led by festival visionary Vumomsi Ngwefonta’a.

This technical day sets the stage for the official festival opening on Saturday, 26 April 2025 at Club 58, Bamenda from 9AM, under the theme: “One Brand, One People – The Pride of the Grassfield.”

Media houses are encouraged to cover this important pre-festival dialogue.
