Wum Council Adopts 2024 Administrative, Management Accounts as Councillors applaud performance

Councillors of Wum council have adopted the 2024 Administrative and Management Accounts of the council.

In a board meeting held on Wednesday 26th March 2024, the council had a total income of 859.8 million Francs that was effectively used to carry out development projects in the Municipality.

The Mayor of Wum, Dighambong Anthony Mvo, expressed his satisfaction with the council's performance, despite some challenges posed by the current socio-political crisis in the region. Mayor Dighambong attributed the council's success to the dedication and hard work of the council staff, who have continued to work tirelessly to achieve the council's development objectives.

In 2024, the Wum council realized the rehabilitation of classrooms and the construction of new classrooms and supply of educational equipment. A block of two classrooms was constructed with a regular office at GS Zonghokwo.

Construction of a block of two classrooms at GS Tsakendze in Kesu Village, supply of 140 benches, 04 tables and 04 chairs to GS Zonghokwo, GS Tsakendze.

Towards infrastructural development,, the council realized the construction of market sheds, installation of solar street lights, rehabilitation of health centers, and construction of a bridge over river Kebwen.

"32 market sheds were constructed at the Wum main market. 30 solar street lights were installed in Bu, Atue and Menteng. The Ukpwa intergrated health center in Ghiedze village was rehabilitated. A fence at the Wum Urban intergrated health center in Kesu village was rehabilitated, the Wum Town Hall was also rehabilitated." Mayor Dighambong Anthony said.

In the milieu of economic empowerment, the council offered support to cooperatives, purchase of office equipment, and creation of a poultry and fish pond, powered by solar energy.

On health, the council was able to carryout the rehabilitation of health centers, supply of medical equipment, and support to persons living with disabilities.

These projects have had a significant impact on the municipality, improving the lives of its inhabitants and contributing to the council's development objectives.

Mayor Dighambong emphasized the importance of these projects, stating that "they are a testament to our commitment to serving the people of Wum and transforming our municipality." Mayor Dighambong said

The Mayor also used the council session to call on the councilors to work together as one. "We must continue to be each other’s keeper in Love and unity, to build our envious beautiful municipality."

The Senior Divisional Officer of Menchum, Abdullahi Aliou applauded the maturity with which the councillors examined the budget and encouraged them to be steadfast and intentional in developing the Wum council area. The SDO also reminded the Councillors that 2025 and 2026 are very busy years for them as the country will be organising several elections. He entreated them to be ready to fully partake in these elections.
