North West Female Mayors Seek Greater Responsibilities at Audience, Minister Felix Mbayu Encourages Steadfastness


Female Mayors after audience with Minister Mbayu 

Female Mayors of the North West have expressed their sincere appreciation to Minister Felix Mbayu and the Elites of the North West Region for the role played during the burial of the deceased Deputy  Mayor of Bamenda II, Joko Freda.

They expressed their appreciation to the Minister on Saturday 22nd March 2025. Led by Mayor Annatou Abrams, the female Mayors used the occasion to plead their case.

Of the 34 Mayors in the North West Region, only one is a woman with a plethora of female Mayors as Deputies. The women are asked for greater responsibilities.

"The women of the North West Region are capable of leading our municipalities if given the chance. We are leaders and do incredibly well." Mayor Annatou told the Minister.

Minister Felix Mbayu, Acting head of the CPDM in Mezam and member of the Elite expressed his satisfaction to the female Mayors for coming to say thank you to the North West Elite and encouraged them to be steadfast even in the face of adversity. 

"Do not relent your efforts." Minister Mbayu told them.

On the issue of female representation, the Minister called on them to remain steadfast on the discharge of their duties, be humble and work with their bosses for the development of their council areas. He reminded them to shun hate speech and greed and work for the pacification of their council areas.

Minister Mbayu also told the Mayors to encourage their peers to register and vote massively during the forthcoming elections in Cameroon.

The female Mayors left the audience with a note of satisfaction for better days for women in politics.
