Hon Chebelem Gordon Ayele

Chebelem Gordon Anyele, Member of the North West Regional Assembly from Bafut has declared his intentions to seek a second mandate at the Assembly with elections scheduled for December 2025.

Honourable Chebelem declared his intentions at the close of the Administrative and Management Accounts of the Bafut Council which took place on March 27th 2025.

Speaking at his residence, Honourable Chebelem Gordon Ayele urged councillors and the Bafut community to work together, end petition writing, and stop backstabbing. He emphasized the importance of unity, mutual support, and collective progress.

"We are a first class Fondom. One of five first class Fondoms in the Region. But if you look keenly, we are not moving steps ahead because of this pull him down syndrome. Petition writing every day. We spend our time writing petitions instead of helping our brothers and sisters to succeed. We can produce a Minister from Bafut if only we can support each other." Hon Chebelem said.

He went further to introduce the slogan known as "Bafut Arrangement, you scratch my back, I scratch your own." To the applause of the councillors.

To Councillor Tajong, one of the doyens of the Bafut council Board, he saluted Honourable Chebelem for declaring his intentions known very early and encouraged others who might have intentions to do so and avoid sitting quiet just to backstab.

"This has worked elsewhere. It can work in Bafut. We can rise by lifting others. It can be A today and B today and we support them." Pa Tajong said.

Quizzed why he wanted a second mandate at the Regional House of Assembly, Chebelem Gordon Ayele said "We still have a lot to do for Bafut. Unfortunately, when we took over, Bafut was a red zone which made it very difficult for us to work and execute our plans to the latter. As we speak, things have significantly improved. We have done so much, we will do so much before the elections in December." Chebelem said.

Asked what has been done concretely on the ground, Chebelem Gordon Anyele highlighted some of his activities and  accomplishments, which are;

- Recruitment of 120 youths and providing them with financial support
- Constructing roads, including the Njinte to Fons Palace road
- Improving the Manjo Hospital, including the construction of a theatre block
- Promoting development projects in Bafut

Honourable Chebelem promised that several Bafut women will benefit from the Universal Health Coverage which he will roll out in the next few weeks.

The come together with councillors signalled a new dawn in Bafut politics.
