Senator Prof. Nebah Ndosiri Ndoye and Mayor Mbigha Felix of Bamenda I Council, joined forces to commemorate the 2025 International Women's Day, highlighting the vital role women play in promoting peace, development, and governance in the Subdivision and the country.
Senator Nebah commended the Ministry for Women's Empowerment and the Family for its tireless efforts in promoting gender equality and combating gender-based violence. She noted that women now hold key positions in government, thanks to the Head of State's policy.
"I'm proud to be a beneficiary of this policy," Senator Nebah said. "As a senator, I'm able to contribute to the decision-making process and help build our country. We've made significant progress, but there's still much work to be done."
Senator Prof Nebah Bridgette urged women in the North West region to register on the electoral register, emphasizing the importance of their participation in decision-making processes. "Women make up over 50% of the electorate," she said. "It's essential that we make our voices heard by registering to vote and participating in elections."
The senator also stressed the importance of women's education and economic empowerment. "Education is key to unlocking women's potential," she said. "When women are educated, they're better equipped to participate in the economy and make informed decisions about their lives."
Mayor Mbigha Felix echoed Senator Ndoye's sentiments, expressing his gratitude for the contributions women have made to the community. "Bamenda I is a peaceful municipality, thanks to the presence of women," he said.
The Mayor emphasized the importance of women's participation in leadership and decision-making processes. "When women come together, success is guaranteed," he said. "That's why Bamenda I is thriving today – because of women." Mayor Mbigha said.
The celebration of the 2025 International Women's Day in Bamenda I Municipality was a resounding success, with a general call for men to work side-by-side with their women for empowerment and encouragement.
They was a general call for the women of the subdivision to make use of the women's empowerment centre which is equipped with modern equipment for training.
