21 years old Ibrahim Abdulahi and 38 years old Usmau Yakubou have been arrested by elements of the Gendarmerie Territorial Regiment in Bamenda after killing 43 years old Kadiry Sali.
According to Abdulahi, he confessed that they are responsible for the kidnapping of Kadiry Sali who was tortured and suspended till death.
According to him, he was tortured because he had recognized their faces and could report them to the forces of law and order.
Abdulahi further states that Usmau Yakubou coerced him into the act, claiming that Kadiry Sali was owing him. A ransom was demanded which the family eventually paid.
Lieutenant Nkengfack, Chief of Special Bureau in charge of investigation and research at the Territorial Regiment in Bamenda explains that they received a complaint on the 4th February 2025 that Kadiry Sali had been kidnapped on the 18th January 2025 and the kidnappers had already received a ransom of 800,000 Francs from the family.
Later on, all forms of communication between the kidnappers and the family ceased. Investigations were immediately carried out and one of the suspects was identified in Wum, specifically in Benakuma.
He was picked up and interrogated the same day and confessed that he acted in complicity with Usmanu who were holding the victim in Fossang village near Foumbot. He claimed to have left the vicinity a week ago and could not confirm if the victim was still alive.
An investigation team from the Territorial Regiment left Bamenda, supported by elements of the Foumbot Gendarmerie and Usmanu Yakubou was arrested in Foumbot. Yakubou confessed that the victim had been killed and his body abandoned in Nkouffel Village, several kilometers around the Njorne Mountain.
Lieutenant Colonel Alobwede Muabe Peter, Commander of the Territorial Regiment in Bamenda explains that a rope was tied around the neck of Kadiry Sali to a tree, another rope on left leg to a tree, a rope on the right leg to another tree and his hands tied behind his back.
He was suspended for several days till he finally died.
On the scene was state prosecutor, Kuicheu Tabet Baudouin and a medical Doctor, Dr Chinmoun who ascertain the death of Kadiry, whose body was given to his family for immediate burial. The corpse was in an advanced state of decomposition.
Lt Col Alobwede Muabe Peter saluted the collaboration between the population and the Defense and security forces in the arrests of these culprits.
They will be placed before the justice department in the days ahead to answer their fate.
