The Bafut community in Yaounde literally stole the show at The Guardian Post Achievement Award to honour the Member of Parliament for Bafut/Tubah constituency, Hon Agho Oliver, for his strides in supporting community development initiatives and assistance to underprivileged.
The lawmaker was given a kingly treatment by the Bafut sons and daughters under the banner of the Bafut Development Manjong Yaounde chapter, on Friday February 21.
This was on the sidelines of the 22nd edition of The Guardian Post Achievement Award, where Hon Agho Oliver was awarded as “2024 Best North West MP of The Year”.
The Bafut community handed the lawmaker a rare traditional stool and graced the ceremony with beautiful traditional dances to express their gratitude to the MP.
The Secretary General of the Bafut Development Manjong Yaounde chapter, Suh Emmanuel, said the Bafut community, upon hearing that the MP was going to receive an award, also decided to seize the occasion to honour him.
“It was just a means of saying thank you for the marvelous work that he has being doing to in the community. Coming here to perform and hand him a gift is just a token to say thank you to the Member of Parliament” Suh explained.
He said Hon Agho Oliver has supported the Bafut community in Yaounde and beyond enormously.
“He has been very outstanding financially as far as our development projects are concerned,” he stated, recalling how the MP bailed out the Bafut community with a huge sum when it was engaged in a project to buy a plot in Yaounde.
Suh also mentioned the MP’s timely intervention in two villages in the community back home where he supported potable water project.
He said they were also expressing gratitude to the MP for supporting villages back home to construct a multipurpose centre.
Since coming to Parliament in 2020, Hon Agho Oliver has been consistent reaching out to his constituents through different initiatives.
The MP has been consistent in engaging multi-sector grassroots activities such as the empowerment of youth, women and the less privileged.
Through his people-oriented actions, Hon Agho Oliver has greatly been contributing to the return of peace in the Bafut/Tuban constituency in particular and Mezam Division and the North West Region in general. on recognition:
