A truck driver by name Elyse Komta has been shot to death at the La Chance Bridge in Bamenda.
The truck driver who was working to clear the debris of the old bridge which collapsed sometime last year and has been a nightmare to the people of Rendezvous and its environs was gunned down at about 10:30am, Tuesday 4th February 2025.
According to a release from the Senior Divisional officer for Mezam, several separatist fighters stormed the place and shot at the excavator operator who died before reaching the hospital.
Elyse is the father of a new born baby who is only three days old as at the time of this report.

The collapse of the La Chance Bridge has been a nightmare to the people around the rendezvous neighbourhood who have clamoured for a long time for a new bridge to be constructed. Severally on radio talk show programs aired in Bamenda, they have called on the City Mayor to commence the reconstruction of a new bridge.
It is unfortunate that at a time works have just started, an excavator operator is killed. It puts into question what the separatist fighters really want.
Edge construction company has proven beyond reasonable doubt to be a friend to the people of Bamenda. Some few years back, the company undertook the clearing of garbage in Bamenda that had been a nightmare to the population.
Edge construction company also ensured that the stretch welcome to Bamenda- Tradex road which was cutting off was done at less than the cost, just to ensure that vehicles get into Bamenda hitch free.
The Observer condemns any act of violence perpetrated against any company stationed in Bamenda to carry out construction works.
The people of Bamenda deserve better roads and bridges that have been a nightmare for the last 10 years.
During the construction of the Bamenda-Babadjou road, an excavator was burnt in Akum which greatly delayed the advancement of the works until indigenous contractors stepped in to salvage the people of the North West from going through numerous potholes to arrive at their destination.
