Biya Gets Boost: Four Opposition Political Parties Endorse President Paul Biya for 2025 Presidential Elections

Four political parties have called on President Paul Biya to stand as a candidate in the October 2025 Presidential Elections.

The PCRN of Robert Kona, the Movement for Democracy and the Defense of the Republic (MDR), Daissala Tigana Tassi, PRAC of Mpogol III Jean Jacques and the UPC of Robert Bapooh Lipot.

The four political leaders handed their motions to Minister Paul Atanga Nji on Friday 31st January 2025 at the Conference room of the Ministry of Territorial Administration.

Daissala Tigana said the MDR with two MPs, one Senator and three Mayors has a legitimate right to present a candidate but are throwing their weight behind President Biya.

The MDR went forward to say "As concerns the national and international scene, the MDR is convinced that President Paul Biya will guarantee the stability and prosperity of Cameroon for the next years.'' the MDR statement read.

The UPC salutes the France-Cameroon led probe into the atrocities committed against National movements of which the UPC had some of its key figures killed. The UPC says the President of the Republic is the right man for the job to maintain stability and economic prosperity


To the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) and the PRAC, they have jointly endorsed President Paul Biya as their presidential candidate of choice for the upcoming Election because of his  unwavering commitment to peace, stability, unity, and social cohesion in Cameroon.

The PCRN, led by its founder Robert Kona, and the PRAC, led by Mbogol Jean Jacques, presented a formal declaration to Minister Atanga Nji Paul, reaffirming their confidence in President Biya's leadership. The minister, who received the declaration on behalf of the President, congratulated the parties on their historic decision, acknowledging the significance of their support for the president's candidacy.

In their declaration, the PCRN and PRAC emphasized that President Biya's leadership has been instrumental in safeguarding national unity, peace, and stability. They highlighted his efforts to promote social cohesion, economic development, and democratic governance, which have earned him widespread recognition and respect.

The parties stated that their decision to endorse President Biya was motivated by their shared commitment to the values of peace, stability, and national unity. They expressed their conviction that President Biya's continued leadership is essential for the country's progress and prosperity.

"We are committed to supporting his candidacy, which, for us, is an all-risk insurance for Cameroon," the declaration read. "President Biya's leadership has been a beacon of hope and stability in our country, and we believe that his re-election is crucial for the consolidation of our democratic gains and the promotion of national unity."

Minister Atanga Nji Paul, who received the declaration, praised the political parties  for their patriotic decision. He assured them that he would deliver their declaration to President Biya, who would undoubtedly be grateful for their support.

The endorsement of President Biya by the four political parties is seen as a significant boost to his re-election bid. It reflects the growing recognition of his leadership and the trust that many Cameroonians have in his ability to promote peace, stability, and national unity.

The endorsement from the four political parties adds to that of Traditional Rulers of Cameroon and Muslim religious and traditional Rulers from the three Northern regions who have called on President Paul Biya to be a candidate for the 2025 Presidential Elections.
