Councillors of the Bamenda II Council have voted overwhelmingly to elect Azah Victorine as the new 2nd Deputy Mayor.
In an extraordinary session convened by Mezam's Senior Divisional Officer, Simon Emile Mooh, Azah Victorine secured 21 votes, with 5 councillors voting against her.
As the lone candidate, Azah Victorine's victory was decisive, and she replaces the late Mrs. Joko Freda.
Simon Emile Mooh congratulated Azah Victorine, urging her to work closely with the council administration to ensure seamless service delivery.
The election was initially scheduled to take place 60 days after the former deputy mayor's passing but was delayed due to the circumstances surrounding her death.
Mayor Chenwi Peter welcomed Azah Victorine's election, praising the councillors for their maturity and selflessness.
Before her election, Azah Victorine served as a Sports and Physical Education personnel under the sub-delegation of Bafut.
Her grassroots experience and party militancy are expected to bolster the CPDM's campaign in the upcoming 2025 Presidential Elections and 2026 Municipal and Legislative elections.
