Paul Atanga Nji Leads Peace Mission: Sultans of Foumban and Bankim Agree to Bury the Hatchet

Paul Atanga Nji, Minister of Territtorial Administration on the instructions of President Paul Biya admonishes the Sultans Of Foumban in the West Region and Bankim in the Adamawa Region to bury their hatchet and sue for peaceful co-habitation.

In a pacifying meeting attended by the Sultan of the Bamoums, Nforifoum Nabil Mbombo Njoya and the Sultan of Bankim, Gah II Ibrahim, of the Tikars, accompanied by the Governors of the West and Adamawa Regions, and some closed notables of the two Monarchs, Minister Paul Atanga Nji said he was acting on the request of the Head of State. He said the Head od State haa requested the two communities to bury the hatchet that resulted into skirmishes between them.

Minister Paul Atanga Nji states that as human beings  there are always bound to be misunderstandings, but what is important is dialogue and optimism to face the future.

After a long in-camera meeting, the two traditional rulers came out beaming with smiles and had a warm handshake as a sign of reconciliation in front of the media.

It is worthy to recall that the two communities, though having same ancestry history have in the recent past recorded clashes over leadership and authority that led to the destruction of public and personal property.

It is hoped that the reconciliation requested by President Paul Biya and facilitated by Minister Paul Atanga Nji will bring lasting peace between the two communities and foster the virtues of living together.
