Paul Biya Receives Royal Endorsement for 2025 Presidential Elections


Traditional Rulers from the 10 Regions of Cameroon endorsed the candidacy of President Biya

Traditional Rulers from the 10 Regions of Cameroon have endorsed President Paul Biya as their candidate for the 2025 Presidential Elections.

The endorsement took place at the Yaounde Conference centre, Monday January 27, 2025 during the enlarged Council meeting of the National Order of Traditional Rulers.



The traditional Rulers led by its newly elected President, His Majesty Tsala Dzomo, outlined the friendship that exists between traditional Rulers and president Paul Biya.

"First and foremost, the Traditional rulers of Cameroon would like to thank the Head of state, His Excellency Paul Biya for giving traditional chiefdoms the place it deserves in our country. 1st, 2nd and 3rd class traditional rulers now receive a monthly allowance and are part of institutions of the Republic where they hold important posts of responsibility."

"When the Regional Councils were set up, the Head of State decided to involve traditional leadership in the electoral college and used his discretionary authority to ensure that the Post of Vice President was given to traditional rulers." His Majesty Tsala Dzomo recounted.

The Council of Traditional Rulers of Cameroon formally requested that President Paul Biya should stand for the 2025 elections.

"In recognition of his constant concern, the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Cameroon, after thorough assessment of the political atmosphere in Cameroon, have decided to give their full and unflinching support to the candidacy of HE Paul Biya in the forthcoming elections." A Memo was read out by the Secretary, Senator Fon Chafah Isaac of Bangolan.

The traditional Rulers advanced reasons that Cameroon is too multifaceted and needs an experienced leader; "Cameroon is a complex state, which needs an experienced statesman at its helm. The experience, wisdom, patriotism and foresight of President Paul Biya are undeniable and irrefutable assets and qualities for our country in this increasingly uncertain world."

They handed the declaration to Minister Atanga Nji Paul, who, after receiving it, said he would hand it to President Paul Biya straight away. The MINAT Boss congratulated the executive bureau of the National Council of Traditional Rulers for making a historical move by supporting the Head of State since 1983, assuring them that President Biya would do more.

The National Council of Traditional Rulers elected His Majesty Tsala Dzomo as President, replacing the deceased Alim Hayatou. His Majesty Abdoulaye Yerima was elected as 1st Vice President from the Extreme North meanwhile Fon Chafah Isaac XI of Bangolan was maintained as the Secretary General.
