Bamenda II Municipal Council's 1st Deputy Mayor, Tse Louis Angwafo, made history on Thursday, January 9th, 2025, as he graduated with a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Buea, becoming one of the first Cameroonians to earn this distinction. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in Angwafo's illustrious career in public service.
On May 8th, 2024, Angwafo successfully defended his PhD thesis, titled "The Execution of Public Contracts for Sustainable Development in Cameroon: A Case Study of Mezam Division". The dissertation examined the challenges and best practices surrounding public contract implementation in Cameroon, with a focus on sustainable development.
Professor Yenshu Emmanuel from the University of Buea chaired the defense, which was unanimously rated as "Excellent" by the panel. Mayor Angwafo's research, presentation, and potential impact on public contract management were commended.
In an interview with the Observer, Angwafo expressed his pride in being part of the new breed of Academic Public Administrators in Cameroon. "Our Faculty of Laws and Political Science presented us for Academic Coronation. We have never had any such academic training in Cameroon since independence," he said.
Mayor Angwafo's achievement is exceptional, given that the University of Buea is the only institution in Cameroon offering the Anglo-Saxon Public Administration program. With his blend of professional and academic experience, including law and political science, Angwafo is poised to make a significant impact in the field of public administration.
