Tubah Council will function on a budget of 811.31 million Francs for 2025.

The budget was voted during the budgetary session of Thursday 5th December 2024.

Witnessing a 2.64% increase, the Chair of the finance committee explained that the slight increase in the budget is as a result of an increase in the collection of global tax, market tolls, building permits, fines in hygiene and sanitation and the operationalization of the mortuary.

After debating on the priority projects for 2025, the councillors voted the budget as presented.

Mayor Tanjong Martin explained that the council has computed the projects presented from the Public Investment Budget likewise projects submitted by the neighbourhood committees. For the public investment budget, the council will carry out the extension of electricity, water supply, install solar panel street lights from four corners Bambui to three corners in Bambili, completion of the women's empowerment centre in Bambili, build box culverts and bridges.

The pavement of roads, rehabilitation and construction of classrooms and the construction of a modern slaughter house in Bambui are amongst the projects scrutinized by the councillors.

The councillors also authorized the Mayor to take an interest free loan from the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development. A loan which Mayor Tanjong says will be used to build a shopping mall and a specialized hospital.

"When this idea came up, we spoke to the Minister of the Economy and he told us that Tubah Council is eligible for this loan. So we have been thinking what we can do with this money. Since it is a loan, we will have to repay. We cannot invest it just anyhow. We are currently talking with some of our partners in India and the conceptualisation of what we need is being prepared. We want a hospital and a shopping mall. The hospital will be a specialized hospital for  the treatment of specific illnesses while the giant shopping mall will be constructed and the council is looking at the current site hosting the Bambui market." Mayor Tanjong Martin spoke to The Observer.

Other deliberations like getting a land certificate for all Tubah Council land in the villages that make up the Municipality was also voted.

As concerns hygiene and sanitation, the council will benefit from a 124 million grants from the President of the Republic. According to the Mayor, "we will build a waste transformation plant where waste will be sorted and eventually transformed." Tubah Council is one of the two councils in the North West currently transforming plastic non-biodegradable waste into pavement blocks.

To better collect and transform this waste, the council will be working with a Non-governmental organization, International Environment Solutions.

The adoption of the 2025 budget for Tubah Council, is the first time the council will be acting on the 3-year program budget.
