It was a sea of people who answered present at the St Francis of Assisi Parish in Ntswehi and the residence of the Tanjongs in Achi-Bambili to bid farewell to the late Mama Anzenui Anna Tanjong, mother of the Mayor of Tubah.
From General Managers of state corporations, past and present Members of Parliament, members of the Regional Assembly, Mayors, community leaders, the biography of Mama Anna Tanjong was read as someone who was a beacon of strength, resilience and love.
Born in 1928, the late mother of eight, four boys and four girls, died at the age of 96 on the 10th November 2024 at the Bamenda Regional Hospital in the company of loved ones and family members.
She will be remembered as one of those who played a pivotal role in the creation of the St Francis of Assisi choir and the brothers of the Divine Mother of the Sacred Rosary at the said parish.
The celebrants of the day described Mama Tanjong as one who never missed church programs even at an advanced age.
Speaking about his deceased mother, the Mayor of Tubah, Tanjong Martin said; "You taught me that life is not measured by what we have but by how we touch the lives of others. The legacy you left behind is nothing short of extraordinary.
"Despite the challenges life threw at you, you faced them with Grace and dignity, always putting your family first." Mayor Tanjong said.
To her daughter Veronica, "Mama you thought us how to love and share unconditionally. Sharing your last moments with you was inspiring and your legacy lives on." Veronica said.
Mama Anzenui Anna Tanjong was a petty trader and a farmer.
She lives behind five children, 28 grand children and 17 great grand children.
