If the Bamenda 1 municipality is the centre of attraction as far as development is concerned, then accolades and praises goes to the charismatic leader and development trailblazer of the municipality, mayor Mbigha Njah Felix.
As we kiss goodbye to the year 2024, Mbigha Felix was able to carryout several projects within his municipality notably the opening at new roads, construction of bridges, provision of boreholes and the ongoing construction of a gas plant expected to go operational in 2025.
The gas plant is expected to reduce the cost of cooking gas and reduce the shortage that the entire region is experiencing. It shall also go a long way to help in the management of waste within the Bamenda I municipality and beyond as waste that is needed by the gas plant shall serve as the raw material for the production of the gas. The construction of the gas plant has also provided employment to youth of the Bamenda I municipality who supply both skilled and unskilled labour at the construction site.
The newly opened roads serves as a means of transport for farmers as it eases access to and from their farms to markets. As such an increase in their farm produce as well as accessibility to almost the entire municipality.
The Bulldozer
Under his tenure as mayor to the Bamenda I council, Mayor Mbigha Felix has been able to carry out rehabilitation of some schools and the District hospital. These schools have been supplied with benches and didactic materials for easy teaching and learning.
To the District hospital, he ensured the construction and extension of the theater as well as constructed a solar energy borehole that provides water to the health center and the surrounding population.
As the former YCPDM President for Mezam 1A, he was able to rally youths of Bamenda 1, during the 11th February Youth Day activities, as well as the National day celebration at the commercial avenue grand stand.
Entirely the Bamenda 1 municipality has registered sustainable successes under the leadership of Mayor Mbigha Felix as he was rated excellent by Dr. Taniform Peter after a two days evaluation tour on projects that he carried out in the municipality within 2024, ensuring transparency and accountability within the municipality.

Over all, Mayor Mbigha Felix has received awards notably the G2G excellence award as best development oriented leader amongst others.
