The Access to Love Campaign, a nationwide initiative to promote social cohesion, violence prevention, and positive values among students has been officially launched at Mada International College on Friday 20th December 2024.
The campaign, organized by Local Youth Corner, aims to create a culture of love, respect, and empathy in schools, promoting a violence-free environment where students can thrive. The initiative will feature a series of competitions, educational sessions, and awareness-raising activities designed to engage students and promote positive values.
The campaign, powered by Tohnain Anthony Nguo popularly known by his artistic name, Magasco, highlighted the aim of the campaign which is against violence as a means of resolution to conflict.
"The idea is to eradicate the different forms of violence in our society, especially since it's becoming increasingly prevalent in our campuses. We've witnessed disturbing cases, such as a child stabbing their father, and teachers fighting with students. These incidents highlight the urgent need to address violence in our society. The campaign is taking a proactive approach by visiting every school and launching a club where students can gather to discuss the initiative. This club will serve as a platform for students to share their ideas and perspectives on the campaign. To encourage participation and creativity, a competition will be held where students can submit their ideas, and the best solutions will be selected. The campaign aims to identify winners in each school, who will then represent their institution in a national finals competition. The ultimate goal is to spread the campaign's message across the country and even globally, promoting a culture of love, respect, and empathy." Magasco said.
The goal is not only to eliminate violence but also to tackle other pressing issues, like the rising number of rape cases. This initiative aims to promote a culture of non-violence, respect, and empathy, ultimately leading to a more harmonious society.
According to Foymojang Kalistus Tuwo, Principal of Mada International College, the campaign is a timely intervention in the fight against violence among youths. "Today, we are faced with a growing concerns where youths have taken to violence as a means of solving their problems," he said.
"As a school, we have been trying to organize different activities with our learners to eliminate violence from our school environment. We have established a peace club, but we acknowledge that we are not experts in this area. That's why we are grateful to Local Youth Corner's Access to Love campaign, which we believe will go a long way in helping us fight violence." The principal highlighted.
The principal emphasized that the campaign will help students become more humble, respectful, and tolerant of each other, making the school environment a safe space for everyone. "We are honored that Mada International College was chosen as the launching site for this campaign. It's a recognition of our efforts to promote peace and non-violence." Principal kalistus expantiated.
By launching this initiative, Local Youth Corner and Mada International College are taking a significant step towards creating a violence-free environment where students can thrive.
