Local Youth Corner Cameroon, LOYOC, has Mobilized youths from some localities of the conflict affected North West and South West Regions.
Dubbed the Community Service Days, the days seeks to Promote youth participation in sustainable development and raise awareness about the recruitment and use of children in the armed conflict.
In the North West Region, the initiative took place in Mezam, Bui and Momo Divisions with some 214 young persons taking part.
In Mezam, the young persons carried out community work at Ghana Street, Cow street and the bridge linking Mobile to Mile 2.
In Bui, the young persons were around the Abakwa roundabout in Jakiri, Health Post and the road to Kovemeng and in Momo, the area around the Mbon Motor park, Mbon Main Market and Mbengwi district hospital were thoroughly clean.
The young persons in Bui recommended that the activity should be carried out regularly as it fosters unity and development.
Other participants in Bamenda said "it is total satisfaction being part of the clean up activity in Mezam as it felt great to give back to the community and see the immediate impact of our work. I would definitely participate again in the future." The participant said.
The community Service has adopted a youth-led approach, utilizing trainers from 12 subdivisions in the North West and South West Regions. These trainers will coordinate and facilitate activities within their respective divisions sponsored by Local Youth Corner Cameroon.
The activities took place between December 20 and December 21.
