Farmers within the Municipality of Fundong have hailed the exemplary support received in boasting their sector from the Mayor of Fundong.
The farmers made the remarks during the second edition of the Fundong economic days from the 13th to the 14th of December 2024 at the Councils chambers.
After the successful holding of the first edition in 2023, a total of Nine Cooperatives, individual farmers, arts and crafts, tourism and trade amongst others were revived.
This gave way to a beautiful second edition with an unprecedented turnout. Exhibitors showcased goods and services to the awe of the visitors on site.
"We have seen produce that many never thought is not being produced in Fundong. This is amazing and our hope to improve on the gains of this year that falls totally in line with the Head of state's vision of import substitution." Mayor Awoh Ndang said.
To ensure that the gains made during the first edition were not lost, an assessment was carried out with the farmers, who were very grateful for the inputs and techniques learnt which has greatly helped them.
To the Divisional Delegate of Agriculture, Langsi Nuinchu and his counterparts of Livestock, the Economy, Small Medium Size enterprises, all praised the foresight of the Mayor in ensuring food self sufficiency and the practice of mechanized agriculture.
With rising food prices, life is becoming more and more difficult for the common man especially those who depend on subsistence agriculture. Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang has ensured that better farm inputs, close follow-up of the farms and a ready market for their produce is ensured. This will prevent post harvest losses and what is produced is what the population is in dire need of.
After touring the stands, the SDO of Boyo, Saidou Moussa, congratulated the Mayor for his brilliance in thinking. He used the occasion to call on the population to work in tandem with the council and administrative authorities to ensure that there is peace and development can reach all the ends of the Municipality.
The Fundong Economic Days, Mayor Ndang explained has come to stay as the best farmers received prices.
