The Fundong municipal council in Boyo Division, North West Region, has adopted a budget of 880,742,000 FCFA for the 2025 fiscal year. This represents a 19.5% increase from the 2024 budget.
Mayor Ndang presented the draft budget, highlighting its three main components: salary, waste management, and investment. The budget was adopted during the council's budgetary session on Thursday, December 12th, 2024, at the Fundong council chambers, under the supervision of the Boyo Administration.
The budget prioritizes waste management to support Fundong's participation in the 2025 Clean City contest. The municipality aims to maintain its position as the second cleanest city in the region. To achieve this goal, the council has increased the budget for waste management, which will enable the municipality to improve its waste collection and disposal services. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the environment and public health.
The investment component of the budget has also been increased, enabling the council to fund 29 priority projects. These projects include the extension of electricity to government residential area(GRA) of Fundong, the construction of a multipurpose center, and rural electrification of Ngwah.
Other projects include the rehabilitation of the Fundong water scheme and the construction of roads and bridges. These projects are expected to improve the living standards of the population and promote economic development in the municipality.
Mayor Ndang emphasized the importance of working together to achieve sustainable development and win the Clean City contest. He called on the population to support the council's efforts to improve waste management and promote cleanliness in the municipality.
He also commended the council's efforts in providing quality services despite financial challenges. The Senior Divisional Officer for Boyo, Alahji Saidou Moussa, praised Mayor Ndang's leadership and called for teamwork among councillors and council executives to foster community development.
The adoption of the 2025 budget is a significant milestone for the Fundong municipal council. The budget prioritizes waste management and investment in priority projects, which are expected to improve the living standards of the population and promote economic development in the municipality.
