Sons and daughters of Otang Village situated in the Northern part of Bafut have raised the sum of 2.7 million Francs as ongoing contributions for the construction of the second phase of the Fon's palace.
Meeting in Souza, Bonaléa subdivision in the Mungo Division, the indigenes of Otang Village raised the sum of 2.7 million Francs.
Speaking to The Observer, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Bafut, Simon Nchu Nfor noted that the caravan to raise funds for the completion of the palace structure will continue till the over 50 million Francs needed for the works is realized.
Simon Nchu Nfor also presented a cash envelope from the Member of Parliament for Bafut-Tubah Constituency, Hon Agho Oliver.
The MP also pledged to support the project with 250 bags of cement and 50 pieces of Aluminum roofing sheets.
This to the applause of the sons and daughters of Otang Village who expressed their sincere regards to the MP for always answering their call.
Otang is a 3rd class chiefdom within Bafut Fondom and counts more 3000 inhabitants as per the 2005 population census.
The fund raising ceremony took place on the 7th December 2024.
To Mbakong Village, a second class chiefdom, Hon Agho Oliver also handed some financial assistance during the fund raising of the village in Yaounde.
