Mayor Nwandum Ernest of Bali

Councillors of Bali Council have voted a budget balanced in income and expenditure at 818,612,371 Francs for 2025.

After examining the budget and making recommendations, the Secretary of the Finance Committee termed the budget as realistic and attainable.

All 32 councillors present voted the budget as amended with key priority projects for 2025.

Mayor Nwandum Ernest explained that the council will focus on improving the agricultural potentials of the municipality that was really hit by the ongoing crisis. In addition to providing farm inputs, the council will open up roads and build bridges to facilitate the movement of farm inputs and farm produce to and from the agricultural basins of Bali.

In Education which is another priority, the council is working to ensure that Government schools that have not been operational for over eight years now will go functional from September 2025. To this end, the refurbishment of the Japanese constructed primary school is almost done in addition to other schools have been renovated across Bali subdivision.

Since taking over the council in 2020, the Mayor has worked tirelessly to bring the much needed life the subdivision once enjoyed.

To this end, he has extended water, electricity, tarred roads, constructed bridges, renovated the Grand stand in Ntafoang, the council Chambers and the courts that were partially or completely burnt down.

With IDPs returning back to the subdivision, Mayor Nwandum was authorized by the councillors to get a waste disposal equipment for garbage collection and disposal from the population. An activity the council has never carried out.

To ensure that the youth of the community gain life-saving skills, the council has completed the construction of the Youth empowerment centre and the equipping of the centre will commence in 2025.

The councillors applauded the exceptional management skills of the Mayor and authorized him to seek for funds for the rehabilitation of the burnt Bali community hall, purchase chairs and musical instruments for the council and to get an authorisation from the Minister of Decentralisation to replace key members of staff who are no longer with the council.

Before the approval of the budget, the council carried out a total scrutiny of projects submitted by the village and neighbourhood committees together with quarter heads.

This move the Mayor says will greatly accelerate the development of the Municipality.
