Elites from the North West Region have urged President Paul Biya to continue leading Cameroon toward economic growth and stability.
At the Bamenda Congress Hall, speaker after speaker praised the Head of State as the "wise man of Africa," acknowledging his successful navigation through turbulent times.
Cletus Anye Matoyah highlighted significant infrastructural projects, such as the ongoing roadworks on the Bamenda-Babadjou and Kumbo-Ndu-Misaje roads, along with the upcoming Bamenda urban bypass. He also noted the construction of a gas plant in Bamenda, nearly 90% complete, which represents an investment of 5 billion Francs. This project is expected to significantly reduce gas prices in the North West region and its surroundings.
Additionally, the North West CPDM Front liners commended President Biya for his commitment to empowering women, pointing out the increased representation of women in the Senate, National Assembly, and local councils. They expressed gratitude for his appointments of figures like Minister Mbah Acha Rose and Secretary of State Asheri Kilo to key positions.
Ntam Micheal Ntam, Section Secretary of Mezam IC, credited Biya with enhancing freedom of movement, liberating political prisoners, and fostering democracy.
In her keynote address, Senator Regina Mundi, Acting Head of the CPDM Permanent Regional Delegation, celebrated President Biya's 42 years in power, praising his diplomatic achievements, including Philemon Yang's presidency of the United Nations General Assembly. She underscored the importance of peace, stating, "the ballot box is the only place where differences in views are expressed." Mundi also thanked Biya for extending an olive branch to repentant armed separatists and invited him to visit Bamenda, calling it his "second home."
She emphasized that Cameroon is an exceptional country led by an exceptional leader, questioning, "Are we behaving like exceptional people? Are we playing our exceptional part in this exceptional country?" These reflections resonated deeply with the attendees.
Senator Mundi condemned efforts to stifle the freedom of association and expression among CPDM militants and sympathizers. She called for vigilance against the rampant killings that have severely hindered development in the North West region.
As the rally concluded, CPDM officials left the Bamenda Congress Hall united in their resolve to win future elections, calling on President Paul Biya to seek another mandate in 2025.
The celebrations were done under the theme;" Let us mobilize as one behind President Paul Biya to ensure stability and progress of Cameroon around the ideals of peace and National Unity."
