Former students of the Sacred Heart College, Mankon under the banner of Sacred Heart Ex-Students Association, SHESA were in Limbe over the weekend from November 8 to 10 for their annual National General Assembly, hosted by the SHESA Atlantic Chapter.
For three days, the Over 400 members of sacred heart college Mankon ex-students association, SHESA, had a full dose of activities and exchanges amongst classmates of different batches and classes of the college.
Amongst other highlights of the Annual General Assembly, the body took to time revisit its constitution and make some amendments ahead of its Elective General Assembly slated for Douala in November 2025.
Speaking during the event, SHESA General president, Suh Romanus expressed joy for a successful general assembly. “It has been a wonderful success really great and unforgettable AGM in Limbe” Suh Romanus said.
He added that the reasons they are bringing young members close is the fact that the present constitution does not favour them so they want a provision that will make it easy for young members to come in.
“Young people are firebrand, strength and energy of the association, we need to bring them in, because we are aging and the association needs to continue.” He added.
“When young ones are present you’ll see fireworks generating energy and enthusiasm among others so we want them to come in that’s one of the reasons why we are amending the constitution” President Suh Romanus said.
He explained that other chapters out of the the country will also come in. He opined that they want to renew themselves because any institution which does not renew themselves is dies “so we are renewing ourselves to be strong” He said.
President Suh Romanus cited some keys points of focus during the AGM apart of the constutition such as improving on financial reports by employing a professional among others.
The host branch president of SHESA Limbe, Professor Julius Che Tita said preparing for the 2024 SHESA AGM has been a long and onerous journey for SHESA Limbe.
He Pointed out that “our goal in SHESA Limbe was prepare and deliver a rendez- vous which would make absentees envious of those who attended. We are here this weekend first because of the sacrifices Limbe SHESANS have made but most especially because of the coordination of our nettes”
“Our Nettes have been selfless in putting together this event. We are also eternally indebted to our sponsors who assured the financial resources needed.” Professor Julius Che Tita said.
Other side events of the Annual General assembly included, a Mass, meet and greet sessions, visits, tour of the city, fun and games and much entertainment.
A few ex-students who spoke to reporters, say, the Limbe event was a hallmark and very successful as they look forward to how Douala will play in 2025.
