The Honourable Member of Parliament for Bafut-Tubah Constituency, Agho Oliver has donated didactic materials and cash to some orphans from Bafut and Tubah subdivisions.
The gesture which comes as the MP was celebrating his brilliant elections into the Executive Committee of Parliamentarians for Global Action, was warmly saluted by the parents and students who came to witness the occasion.
Over 200 students were carefully selected from those who have lost their in the course of the eight-year old crisis in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.
Some of the parents were gruesomely murdered who were breadwinners of their families. Their demise forced a lot of these students to fight for survival on their own. This has made it difficult for them to have books and pay their fees.
It is within this backdrop that the MP came to celebrate with them, donating books and cash to aid them realize their dreams through school.
"Many people will say it is not normal for us to donate books in November. I think we are doing the right thing. Donating at this time is purposeful and we are meeting the immediate needs of the students." Hon Agho Oliver said.
The students have been forced to abandon their campus and are attending classes at the Divisional office in Tubah. Massango Metouge Narcisse explained that; "GHS Macha-Bambui is in a red zone. There have been repeated attacks on the school and it is used as a safe passage to other localities. To stop this continuous aggression on education, we opted to relocate the school." Massango explained.
Getting these very sad stories, Hon Agho Oliver encouraged them to be steadfast in their studies. To pay maximum attention to their teachers and to ensure that they can better prepare for their future by effectively studying.
The community leader, George Gemoh was very happy that the Member of Parliament did not relent in his effort to ensure that the orphans in Tubah and Bafut could smile again.
"We want to sincerely thank the MP for this donation to our children. We are very happy that the students can get back home smiling." George Gemoh said.
The occasion also saw speakers like the Commissioner for Economic Development, Ghejung Awunti, appreciating the MP for all the donations he has carried out in the constituency especially the donation of aluminum roofing sheets to some families whose houses were razed in Bambui.
The speakers thanked God for elevating Hon Agho Oliver to the prestigious Executive committee of Parliamentarians for Global Action.
His brilliant elections saw him outshine other candidates from Sweden and Mexico as he backed home the highest number votes.
The election of the President of the network is slated for December.
