The Second Deputy Mayor of the Bamenda II Council, Joko Frida has been killed.
She was murdered in cold blood in the evening hours of Sunday October 27th, 2024 at Nchoubuh junction in Mankon Bamenda.
Kidnapped at gunpoint from her Savannah Street residence, she was whisked off according to family sources in a car. The gun men believed to be pro separatist fighters took her to an unknown hideout.
The Observer cannot independently confirmed if any demands were made to the family.
Mrs Joko Frida, a soft spoken woman who is mostly reserved had returned home from the film projection of "Paul Biya, a Great statesman with an extraordinary destiny."
The news of her demise has left many in shock as they cannot comprehend the reasons behind her murder. At her residence, they was wailing and a general atmosphere of despair with the rhetorical question from every lip, why Ma Joko.
Madam Joko Frida is a retired Treasury staff who rose to prominence within the ranks of the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM.
She was elected to head the Women's wing in the Mezam 1B section which culminated in her election in February 2020 to the post of Second Deputy Mayor of the Bamenda II Council.
Madam Joko Frida is married to one time Secretary General of FECAFOOT North West and former Coach of PWD of Bamenda, Joko Evaristus.
The killing of Mayor Joko Frida comes exactly 14 months since the brutal killing of Police Superintendent Assila Yves who was the special branch commissioner for Bamenda II, murdered in Ntamulung on 31st August 2023.
Her remains is presently at the Bamenda Regional Hospital Mortuary.
