As the 2024/2025 academic year takes full gear, several measures are being put in place to ensure that school going children and pupils are fully equipped to embark on their educational journey.

One of such initiatives is the Wasa Lamba Back-to-School project spearheaded by Cleatine Asongwe Dhin Kangue, an elite from Bonaberi, Douala IV who in a bid to ensure a smooth running of the academic year decided to make a donation of school materials to 100 underpriviledged pupils and children.

The event took place at the Community hall at Grand Baobab in Bonaberi, Douala IV on Saturday 28 September 2024.

It was attended by the children, parents, community members and local leaders, who gathered to witness an elite of the area give back to the community.

According to Asongwe, the donation aimed at equipping students with the tools necessary for academic success and foster a sense of hope and motivation among them.

The materials donated include: school bags, back packs, note books, pens, pencils and other essential materials.

"We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and the materials that support their learning journey," explained Asongwe. After the activity he expressed his satisfaction and said “it's heartening to see the smiles on the children’s faces as they receive these supplies, and we are grateful to friends and volunteers who made this possible."

Besides the donation, the event featured engaging activities such as educational games and motivational talks from local educators. The talks aimed at inspiring the young pupils to strive for excellence in their studies.
At the end of the event, parents could not contain their joy and satisfaction, one of them said, "this donation means so much to us. We often struggle to provide our children with basic school supplies, and this support lifts a huge burden off our shoulders," said a local resident.

Asongwe is committed to continiously support education in te community, with plans for future donation drives and programs aimed at enhanicng educational and social opportunities for underpriviledged children.

According to him, the initiative should serve as a reminder of the power of community collaboration and the impact of kindness in transforming lives. “Together we can pave the way for a brighter future for our children” he said.
