Senator Nebah Ndosiri Ndoye's Excellence Award: 50 Students Rewarded

Some 50 students drawn from the seven subdivisions of Mezam have been rewarded for their academic brilliance at the just ended national exams.

A ceremony to publicly recognize the students took place Friday 6th September 2024 at the Bamenda I Council hall chaired by North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique.

Speaking at the event, Senator Prof Nebah Ndosiri remarked that the academic excellence award seeks to recognize students who recorded outstanding results at the just ended exams.

She highlighted that only their academic performance was taken into consideration.

"I want to first of all congratulate all the students who made it in the exams with distinction and I use this opportunity to instill in them the spirit of peace building. I also want to encourage the students to keep away from all deviant behaviors at school such as drug consumption and unwanted pregnancies that can jeopardies their education. They should be peace lovers because only through peace can they study. The pens given to them shall be used to write their future. They should embrace education because education is the only key that opens all doors so I encourage all the students to work hard. I encourage all and sundry in the Mezam division to send their children to school come September 9th 2024" Senator Prof. Nebah told the Observer

Unlike during the first edition in 2023 where only girls were rewarded, this 2024, both boys and girls were appreciated. 

"This year, equal opportunities were given to both the girls and the boys. You people have shown resilience. The numerous ghost towns and gunshots did not deter you from taking your studies seriously. Keep breaking barriers. Together, we are shaping the future of Cameroon. Embrace any upcoming academic opportunity and work hard because that is the magic to success." Senator Prof Nebah told the students.

Some of the students recorded 11 A Grades at the Ordinary Level and 5 A Grades at the Advance Level. In technical Education, similar grades were recorded to the total amusement of those who came to watch the event.

From a Region and Division that has been rocked by an 8-year old devastating crisis, with students and teachers blocked from going to school, the results of these students were termed remarkable by North West Governor.

Adolphe Lele Lafrique encouraged them not to stumble in the face of adversity. He encouraged the population to collaborate with the defense and security forces so that the students can go to school hitchfree.

The Governor also called on the rest of the Elite to follow in the footsteps of the Senator.


Didactic Materials and cash prices ranging from 25,000 Francs to 50,000 Francs were handed to the students to Carter for their tuition going forward.






In appreciation, the students appreciated the support of the Senator and promised to remain focused in all their endeavours.

"I am very happy and thankfull to the senator for the initiative to award us who performed outstandingly in the recent public examinations. It has really boosted me and calls to my mind to work harder as I strive to read medicine in the University of Bamenda" the 17years old Ngum Joy Fuh who scored 25points in the GCE Advanced Level told the Observer.
