Funwi Elvis, President of Big Mankon New look Veteran handing Didactic materials to members

The Big Mankon New Look Veteran has distributed didactic materials to its members, Sunday Sept 1st 2024 at the club's meeting house at Savanna street Bamenda. This according to members, eases the burden of back-to-school preparations for families.
The distribution of didactic materials which is the first of its kind in the club, came at the end of a solidarity tournament that lasted two months. At the final stages Team Blue beat Team Yellow by 4 goals to 2 to win the coveted prize.

Players of Big Mankon New Look Veterans were split into two under the guidance of the club’s elders members, Pa Willy and Pa Henry who used wisdom and savoir-faire to encourage active participation and commitment among members during sports sessions. The event did not only foster camaraderie but also highlighted the club's dedication to supporting its members beyond sports.

Funwi Elvis, talking to The Observer

Fuh Elvis Funwi, the club's president, emphasized the importance of community support, stating, "Most of our members are responsible, married individuals. We aim to change the perception of veteran clubs as merely places for excessive drinking. Our solidarity initiatives show that we are a family committed to supporting one another, especially during times of need, like the back-to-school season."

The club's commitment to community welfare extends beyond educational support. In the past, they have made significant contributions to local healthcare facilities and offer assistance during both joyful and sad events in the lives of their members.

As the new school year approaches, the Big Mankon New Look Veteran club stands as a beacon of hope and support for its members, demonstrating that solidarity and community spirit can thrive alongside sporting passion.

Founded 43 years ago, the Big Mankon New Look Veteran club boasts a diverse membership that spans the globe. Despite their geographical dispersion, members consistently come together in spirit, bolstered by a well-organized diaspora forum.
