PWD Bamenda Holds Successful 2024 AGM, Outlines Ambitious Plans for the Future

 


The Public Works Department SC (PWD) Bamenda, a prominent football club in Cameroon, held its 2024 Annual General Assembly on August 18, 2024 at the Hilltop Hotel in Upstation. The event was graced by the presence of the club's esteemed president, Pascal Abunde.


The AGM provided a comprehensive review of the club's activities and achievements in the 2023 season. President Abunde took the opportunity to appreciate the unwavering support and dedication of the club's fans and supporters, who have stood by the team through both prosperous and challenging times.


Abunde highlighted that the club has now reached a point of financial stability, with a well-organized structure and a shareholder base. Each member holds at least 100 shares, with each share priced at 70,000 francs CFA, as per the club's bylaws.

The AGM also saw some restructuring in the some top ranks of the club as Tasi Peter was presented as the communication officer of the Club, Afresh Apong presented as Chief scout and Abongwa fozo as the Adviser to the board.



Presenting the projected budget for the 2024/2025 season, the AGM revealed that the club is entitled to a 48 million subvention from FECAFOOT, the Cameroonian football governing body. However, the actual amount received is only 10,750,000 XAF, leaving an unpaid balance of 37,250,000 XAF. Additionally, the club is expected to receive 10,000,000 XAF as the runners-up prize for the Coupe du Cameroun,  also with a pre-projected budget of 2,250,000XAF making the total projected budget for the new season 248,000,000 XAF.

Speaking to the press, President Abunde expressed the club's plans to implement a robust business model and further strengthen the PWD academy. The club is also focused on securing its own training ground before considering the development of a home stadium. Abunde remains hopeful that the ongoing work at the proximity stadium will allow the team to host their opponents within the Northwest Region.

The AGM also addressed the challenges faced by the club in the previous season, as they had to fight hard to avoid relegation but ultimately managed to maintain their position in the top tier of the Cameroonian football league.
