In a bit to promote Diversity and pluralism in conflict affected areas in Cameroon, Reach out Cameroon on July 26 brought together youth of the Bamenda 1 subdivision in Mezam in order to foster actions of peace.
In an inclusive football match aimed at promoting peace building and social cohesion within communities in Cameroon, the football match in Bamenda 1 brought together Zone 6 FC that defeated Nkah FC 3#2 in the football boys category.
In the football girls category, Ntenefor All Stars were beaten 3#0 by Ayaba Unity.
The football tournament is one of five activities to be carried out in the North West and South west Regions with Mezam being the host of the project in the North West under the Global Center for Pluralism Award won last year by the executive director Esther Omam.
The North West is benefiting two out of the five activities which amongst them is training for five women-led groups with the award of grants.
The Akwena women farming group of Bamendakwe are the beneficiaries of the training and the award of grants which is to support the group's activities and also help to raise their living standards.
"The goal in all is to find a common way of bringing the communities together to bond in actions for peace with the use of football, for football is a unifying factor" Sylvie Ebitoh HOD for Economic Security.
The reach out Cameroon team will next carry out similar projects in the South West region in the localities of Buea, Tole, Mudeka and Limbe.
