Mayor Chenwi Peter Wins CENPA's Most Resilient, Innovative and Development-Oriented Award

A jury consisting of four renowned Cameroonians, after a careful study has proclaimed Mayor Chenwi Peter, Mayor of Bamenda II subdivisional council as the Most Resilient, Innovative and Development-Oriented Mayor in Cameroon.

The award reads that the Mayor has carried out development through adaptive measures that have made decentralisation real to the population, despite security challenges.

Known for his humanitarian works in the Municipality, Mayor Chenwi Peter has donated severally to school-going children during the peak of the 8-year Anglophone crisis, canvassing for effective back-to-school. He has been able to organize the bike riding syndicate in Bamenda II where he has donated several times to the bike riders.

Known for the common parlance of "we are here to serve not to be served, Mayor Chenwi is known for his pragmatism in alleviating poverty by coming to the aid of several internally displaced persons, the physically challenged and other persons living with disability.


Several communities now drink portable water thanks to the several boreholes constructed by the Mayor, the regular supply of medical equipment to integrated health centers and the recent purchase of heavy-duty equipment to put an end to the perennial bad roads in his Municipality.

Found worthy by a set of jury that was comprised of Barrister Akere Muna as President, Senator Nfon Ekoko Mukete as Secretary, Esther Omam as Member together with Ngah Christian, Mayor Chenwi Peter's resilience was saluted.

The Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association, CENPA, organised its maiden award night at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel, Thursday 25th July 2025 and attended some sitting cabinet Ministers.

CENPA has a membership of 38 Newspaper Publishers of the English expression.
