Bamenda I Mayor wins Development Achiever Award, Dedicates award to populace

In the face of an eight year old crisis, the city of Bamenda has found glimmers of hope and progress, thanks to the tireless efforts of community leaders recognized at the inaugural laurate awards ceremony organized by the Gazette Media Group.

Among the over 40 recipients celebrated at the Blue Pearl Hotel Conference Hall in Bamenda III was Mbigha Felix Njah, the mayor of Bamenda I municipality. He was awarded l; "The 2023 Best and Silent Development Achiever. Despite the significant challenges posed by the ongoing unrest, Mayor Mbigha has spearheaded transformative initiatives that have tangibly improved the lives of his constituents, earning him this prestigious accolade.

"I am happy that the youths specifically and the entire population of the Bamenda I municipality, embraced my ideas about development," Mayor Mbigha told the Observer, dedicating the award to the community that has rallied behind his vision.

Since taking office four years ago, the Mayor has worked relentlessly to foster peace, reintegrate young people involved in the crisis, and drive sustainable development in Bamenda I. His unwavering commitment has yielded remarkable results, transforming the municipality's infrastructure and catalyzing a remarkable turnaround.

A key pillar of Mayor Mbigha's strategy has been strategic investments in heavy duty equipment that has significantly enhanced the community's ability to maintain and expand its road network. Under his leadership, the Bamenda I Council has acquired a Front End loader and a grader, enabling the efficient opening and maintenance of roads across the area.

"This investment in heavy duty equipment has accounted for the massive opening of roads and maintenance of the existing roads. Since acquiring these equipment, Bamenda I had been involved in road works, the highest since we came into office some four years ago." Mayor Mbigha proudly stated, underscoring the tangible progress witnessed by the community.

By empowering the youth and the broader population to actively participate in the municipality's development, Mayor Mbigha has fostered a collaborative approach that has yielded remarkable results.
