Minister Felix Mbayu, Asheri Kilo and Fongod Edwin Nuvaga pose for a picture with Joseph Fru Nde
Victim of an arson attack on his taxi at Che Street Bamenda some two months ago, a video of Joseph Fru Nde made rounds on social media as he could be heard lamenting.
"This is my only source of income. I have mobility impairment and my brother just suffered from a stroke. This taxi is our only source of hope." Fru Joseph cried.
Passengers were pulled out of his taxi and it was set ablaze by separatist fighters who wanted to impose a white and blue colour on all taxis plying the streets of Bamenda.
Several onlookers felt a lot of pity for Joseph Fru Nde and a GoFundMe was launched on several media houses to assist him.
North West Elites could not be indifferent to the plights faced by the mobility impaired taxi driver, whose only source of revenue had been taken from him.
Wednesday 24th July 2024, a brand new car was handed to him in Yaounde. While handing the car keys and documents, Minister Asheri Kilo remarked that: "You cried and your fathers and mothers who are far away heard you. I didn't know you could smile like this again. As you take this car back to Bamenda, you will drive slowly and safely and work and our prayers is that you will work even double what you used to." Minister Asheri Kilo told Joseph Fru Nde.
On his part, Joseph Fru Nde expressed his gratitude to the Elites of the North West Region "May God richly bless them" he concluded.
Several blue cabs have come under attack in Bamenda from pro separatist fighters wanting to impose a change of colours which till this moment, has remained futile.
This latest move from the Elites of the North West adds to the donation of 75 million Francs to the victims of the Bamenda Main market fire disaster of February 22nd, the mobilisation of grassroots to attend the 2021 and 2023 Cameroon Cup finals of PWD and also the purchasing of a brand new bus to PWD Bamenda.
