Leading Cameroon’s microfinance institution Ntarinkon Cooperative Credit Union Limited with its acronym NtaCCUL and its General Manager Ade Muma Divine have once again been recognized for their outstanding services in the mico-finance sector.
NtaCCUL was awarded as Most Innovative, Digital-oriented Microfinance Institute for consistency in pioneering new ways in digitalising services to customers and payment of highest interest on savings and lowest interest on loans while the General Manager was awarded 2022 Life Time Microfinance Icon for spearheading/pioneering/undertaking landmark reforms that have greatly transformed Ntarinkon Credit Union into the most capped Microfinance Institution in Cameroon and in CEMAC Sub Region.
The awards were donated Saturday April 29, 2023 at Club 58 during the second edition of The Herald Tribune Excellence Award, which saw some institutions and persons of different works of life awarded for their contributions to the growth of the community.
Over the years, NtaCCUL has grown beyond lips and bounds in the banking sector in the country and the CEMAC Sub Region which has attracted several recognitions from different organizations. Their innovative and developmental policies, customer care is what has attracted over the 82,000 members to the union with a 6% interest on savings and a very low interest rate on loans.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Union, the Assistant General Manager who doubles as Marketing Manager Takuhli Maurice says the union plans to go digital to suit the present day context as well as support the community in venturing in agriculture.
“We are doing all to get everybody into the banking sector especially the youth. The world is going digital and as they are versed with electronic devices, so too we want to make it easy whereby union members can save and withdraw at the comfort of their homes.”
NtaCCUL has envisaged to tighten security at the level of all its branches all over the country to ensure the safety of members' wealth, interconnect all branches to ease transaction of members. Recently over 30 youths have been employed with accounting and digital skills to serve members of the union effectively.
To ensure sustainable development and growth of communities, The Union will be giving out micro loans to aid farmers invest in agriculture which is the backbone of Cameroon’s economy and will help in boosting the economy, better the lives of Cameroonians.
Ntarinkon Cooperative Credit Union was created in 1972 as a Savings/Njangi group by some 15 honest members in Ntarinkon quarter of Mankon. These few parents created this Union to be a solution to their financial and social problems. They worked earnestly as volunteers to ensure growth and sustainability. In subsequent years the management of the Union recruited honest workers who worked honestly with little pay to foster the growth of NtaCCUL. Today Ntarinkon Credit Union that started with one branch office is having 14 branch offices, two extension offices at Bamenda Up-station and Ndobo, several collection centers with more than 80.000 members spread all over Cameroon and the world and over 150 workers.
