The North West Regional Delegate for National Security, Elung Wilson Njume has thanked God for his state recognition, saying it is years of hard work and dedicated services to the nation.
The North West police boss was speaking in Bamenda Sunday 28th May 2023 at the reception of his medal, awarded on the 20th May 2023.
Decorated Knight of the Cameroon Order of Valor, Elung Wilson noted with precision that working in the North West requires people who have "solid testicles. It is not a punishment because within a short while, you will enjoy it here." Njume noted.
Appointed to serve in the North West two-years ago, the graduate of the University of Buea's Department of Journalism and Mass Communication used his medal award to hail the frantic collaboration between the population and the security forces to stamp out terrorism in the North West Region.
Described as a hardworking individual, North West Governor, Adolphe Lele LAfrique saluted him for changing the face of the police in the region, adopting a people-friendly approach in dealing with matters. This he says is contributing to the re-birth of peace in the North West Region.
Governor Lele LAfrique said; "The Head of state does not want to win a war against his people, but to win a war against terrorism." Lele LAfrique remarked.
While saluting his Hierarchy for proposing his name for this recognition, Elung Njume said the medal came at God's appointed time.
Cutting of the cake
For barely over his two year stay in Bamenda, the police boss has dismantled the numerous checkpoints on the major streets in Bamenda, increase collaboration between the police officers and the population and also the respect for the rule of law for both officers and the population.
Regarded as a man who will not tolerate when shame is brought to the force, Njume Wilson was asked to continue ensuring that the police force dispenses the right services to the population of the North West.
Before his appointment as North West Regional Delegate for National Security, he served as Commissioner of the Kumba Central Police.
