Regional Councillors of the North West Regional Assembly have unanimously voted for four prosperous deliberations, contributed heavily to an effective back to school for students and schools in dying need and to the success of students for the 2022/2023 academic year.
The deliberations were arrived at, at the close of the 8th session of the North West Regional Assembly the “Evaluation of peace building and back to school,” Tuesday September 14, 2022, at her conference hall.
As agreed, The Assembly will obtain a loan of one billion FCFA from FEICOM, for the construction of a North West Regional Assembly Guesthouse. The Assembly has authorised the President of the Assembly obtain a loan of five billion five hundred million for the construction of Regional Assembly Headquarters.
The executive of the Assembly shall obtain A loan of 900m from FEICOM for the purchase borehaolds, trucks and road graders and one billion for reconstruction of health facilities, destroyed schools and palaces.
To accomplish the mission of effective back to school, the regional Assembly after receiving complains and needs of schools, donated some didactic materials to schools, financial assistance to excelling students of the region I public exams as well as books and school bags to internally displaced students.
A total of 100 children in dying need for pedagogic support were assisted financial and materially, 2000 IDPs with books, bags and financial aid, 92 laureates backing home 50k from both first and second cycle who excelled in the just public exams were given the sum of 50,000 and 60,000 respectively. 200 benches (100 mounted and 100 unmounted) shall be distributed to Schools in desperate need in all seven divisions of the region.
“We received cries from some parents yearning to send their children to school but lacked certain school materials. Which prompted us to support the sector and some schools with didactic materials.
“We hope you carry peace and harmony back to your homes, villages and your communities. We came here to evaluate the peace building and back to school projects of the region but the Regional Assembly has its own peace and development strategies. I enjoined you to work with all. We cannot wait for center and international communities to come with peace because we have our own capacity. Let us show the world our capacity to come but we have to come together and seek peace because I am convince we can. I encourage all your colleagues principals and teachers to work hard and steadfast for the success of education in the region” Prof Angwafo told the teachers, councillors and Divisional representatives while congratulating the successful students
The Governor Adolphe Lele LAfrique congratulated the students and appreciated thé teachers for the great work in teaching the children despite all odds. He then called on all to work in close collaboration for more children to return to schools
