The founders of Texas Graceland International Academy, TGIA, have assured parents of the bilingual and inclusive education offered at the school to both nursery and primary school learners.
The co-founders, Dr Eileen Teyim and Mbafor Doris Atem gave the assurance while launching the citadel of learning.
The imposing and state-of-the-art campus is located at the Tropicana neighbourhood, Mvan in Yaounde of the Centre region.
The school was officially launched during a colourful opening ceremony on Saturday July 16.
The ceremony was chaired the representative of the Mayor of Yaounde IV Council.
The event was heavily attended by some members of the security and a host of high personalities.
Speaking during the event, the co-founder, Dr Teyim assured that the school will be functional in a bilingual, American-typed and inclusive educational systems in order to build a society of co-existence and national unity.
“We are offering modules in our programme which other schools do not have. We are supplementing the Cameroon English curriculum with the American English curriculum,” Dr Teyim said, adding that Chinese, Spanish languages and other co-curricular activities have been integrated into the curriculum.
The US-based medical professional who is passionate about education, also attested that TGIA is also designed to render quality inclusive education to its learners regardless of their disability statuses.
“We have put in place measures to take care of children with different diagnoses such as autism and dawn syndrome,” she stated, before adding that: “There is going to be an assessment during registration of the kids to see how we can be able to meet the child’s need. We will then come up with an individualised educational plan for the said child so that the child can be able to learn in class with other children”.
“We also have a special education teacher who will communicate with the parents at home to ensure that the parents are aware of what is being taught in school and be able to implement or follow up the child while at home,” Dr Teyim added.
Maximum security
According to the co-founder, the school has been well fashioned to guarantee maximum security of kids in and around the campus.
“TGIA has round the clock security. For you might have noticed, we have a security post with a video surveillance system all round and with the 24-hour guards the kids will be much secured,” Dr Teyim told reporters.
She added that teachers will be assign on a daily basis to help cross the main road beside, during the school opening and closing hours.
Affordable fees
The co-founder equally assured the affordability of fees for kids which could be paid in three instalments.
“Our school is very affordable with registration being 25,000 FCFA while the tuition is 275,000 FCFA. Once a child is registered, the child will be offered a free uniform”.
Announcing that enrolment has begun since July 1, Dr Teyim reiterated that “when a child comes to this school, the parent don’t have to bother about taking them to Chinese and Spanish lessons or other extracurricular activities, based on everything we are offering here”.
Qualified, committed staff
On her part, seasoned educationist and co-founder, Mbafor Doris Atem reiterated that Texas Graceland International Academy has qualified and experienced teaching staff to positively impact their learners whom she described as tomorrow’s leaders.
“We are here to celebrate the pupils who are going to be educated here, who will impact our society and whom we are going to be proud of. I urge you all to partner with us so that we can influence the lives of your children,” the co-founder and proprietor said.
“We are different from other schools because TGIA has God-fearing founders who are going to ensure that the moral values that we expect of our children should really be seen in them as they grow up,” she said.
Mbafor further stressed that “We have well qualified staffs and in other for any person to teach here, the person should have been trained and already taught in different schools”.
Speaking about the various facilities available at the school, the seasoned educationist cited the availability of multiple modern toilets, bus transportation, an infirmary with qualified nurse, a canteen and a rich library with over 30 computers.
“The learners are not only going to be taught computers but ICT programmes that will teach them how to calculate, draw and other relevant and appropriate things that are available for the world today” she added.
Meanwhile, Head teacher of the Anglophone Section of TGIA, Akum Kenneth said TGIA is an educational institution which parents won’t regret haven sent their children to.
Indicating that free holiday classes and registration are ongoing on all working day from 7:30am to 4pm, Akum announced that TGIA will begin classes on Monday, September 5, 2022 for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The ceremony was marked by the symbolic cutting cake and ribbon by the representative of the Yaounde IV Mayor alongside the co-founders.
