General Nka: 30 Months in Bamenda, Major Amba Camps Destroyed

Brigadier General Nka Valere

5PM, Thursday 14th July 2022, a decree of the President of the Republic, transfers Brigadier General Nka Valere from the 5th Joint Military Region to the International war college in Yaounde.

The second ever commander of the 5th joint military region leaves after spending 2years, 6 months in Bamenda with an amazing track record.

Under his command, General Nka was able to raid several Amba camps  across the seven divisions of the North West. From operations Widi-Bali, Bafut 1 and 2, Ngoke-Bui, Bamenda clean, several Amba pseudo generals were neutralised.

From 'Generals' Fire in Bamendakwe, Mad Dog, Cross and Die, Chacha in Bui, the army ensured that all roads leading to Divisional headquarters in the North West were passable.

Before his taking command on the 24th December 2019, they were major road blocks around the Ring road and the trans African Highway from Bamenda-Mamfe-Ekok.

The silencing of these Amba warlords have brought some relative calm in the North West Region especially the dislodging of Amba Camps in Mforya Bafut that served as hideout for kidnapped students.

Brigadier General Ekongwesse Divine Nnoko

His continuous attacks on Amba camps in Bafut greatly reduced the rate of kidnapping that was on the rise in the North West Region.

Brigadier General Nka Valere and his colleague, Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine developed a people-oriented approach. In their 30-month stay, several Civil-military activities were carried out in Weh, Furu-Awah, Nwa, Ngoketunjia and Nkambe. With some under the command of the Rapid Intervention Battalion.

In Nwa, the population turned up to receive free medical consultations, food stuffs, renovated classrooms and didactic materials.

Roads totally cut off by separatist fighters were reconstructed like the bridge linking Kumbo to Oku.

Major and minor operations in and around the city of Bamenda served as a great sigh of relief as some neighbourhoods that were not accessible are today relaxed. Neighbourhoods like Nitob, Travellers and parts of Bamendakwe are easy to access.

Brigadier General Nka Valere and Ekongwese Divine led the army to clear dirt from the city of Bamenda when the waste disposal company, Hysacam met with stiff resistance. This came at the heart of the fight against the coronavirus that took the world hostage in 2020.

In all his outings across the North West and West Regions, General Nka has often called for the respect of the rules of war. Respect of human rights and the total collaboration of the population.

In operation Bafut II, the daughters of Pseudo General Alhadji were captured and later resettled in Douala by the army. The saloon opened for the duaghter, Sonita according to the Mayor of Bafut is thriving .

Brigadier General Bouba Dobekreo

As General Nka moves to the War College in Yaounde, he will be succeeded by Brigadier General Bouba Dobekreo.

Born on the 14th of February 1958 in Dschang, West Region of the Cameroon. He is the former General Commander of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR. He fought rigorously against road bandits who intercepted vehicles and made away with personal property.

General Dobekreo also led the Multinational Joint Task force to fight against the incursions of Boko Haram in the Northern part of Cameroon.

General Dobekreo will have to work with Brigadier General Housseini Djibo who takes over from General Ekongwese Divine who moves to the Second Gendamerie Region with command post in Douala.

Generals Dobekreo and Djibo will have to work to ensure that the persistent attacks of Pseudo General No Pity are brought to a hault. Kidnappings across the region are reduced tremendously as well as ensuring that the Kumbo-Nkambe road is passable without violent attacks.
