CAMTEL, MTN signed partnership, puts customers interest First

CAMTEL and MTN Signs MoU

The General Manager of the Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday and the Managing Director of MTN Cameroon have signed a memorandum of understanding to permit subscribers of the Blue Brand switch to the MTN network where CAMTEL services are unavailable.

The signing ceremony this Tuesday 28th September 2021 thus sees MTN Cameroon and CAMTEL as pioneers in Cameroon in the deployment of the "local roaming."

CAMTEL's latest product, Blue will hit the market in the days ahead with subscribers apparently using the brand in areas where the network is still to be installed. In view of the change management and customer centricity policy of the General Manager of CAMTEL, the partnership will allow CAMTEL subscribers to switch automatically to the partner network and continue using their CAMTEL SIM cards while enjoying other services.

Local roaming now a possibility

For Madam Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, CAMTEL’s General Manager,

"Local Roaming is a form of infrastructure sharing used more and more by mobile telephony operators around the world to provide themselves with the means to ensure rapid territorial coverage. As a result, our strategy of presence and diversification throughout the country will be based among others things on Local Roaming through the network of our partner MTN in areas where the CAMTEL network is not yet available in order to provide CAMTEL subscribers with quality service"

This new partnership which links the South African giant to the Cameroon incumbent operator, reflects the determination of the two operators to improve the customer experience of subscribers. Stephen Blewett, MD of MTN Cameroon is optimistic

"This is yet another act that demonstrates MTN's commitment to contribute to the development of the telecommunications sector in Cameroon. We are thus launching national roaming to ensure that all Cameroonians with a Sim card can remain reachable throughout the National territory"

Distributors of the blue brand have already been commissioned throughout the National territory
