The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh has placed a banned on the circulation of motorbikes in Bali subdivision.
The subdivision that does not have township taxis will have to look for alternative ways of movement in the next 3 months.
The ban is largely seen to come from the fact that five police officers lost their lives with the detonation of an improvised explosive device last Sunday in the subdivision and the perpetrators disappeared on motorbikes.
The recent ban on bikes follows previous bans in other subdivisions and divisions of the North West as government tries to curb down on the activities of separatist fighters.
In 2020, Bali subdivision witnessed unprecedented ghost towns imposed by separatist fighters, blocking trade along the Bamenda - Mamfe- Ekok corridor.
