Commemorating the 49th edition of the National Day in Bamenda May 20, 2021, some 69 persons have been decorated, recognising their works in various domains.
The award ceremony cut across persons from different works of life decorated with medals. This includes the The Order of Valor: Dignity of Officer 1, Grade of Officer 1, Grade of Knight 7, The Cameroon Order of Merit: Grade of Commander 1, Grade of Officer 5, Grade of Knight 31, Sports Order of Merit 10 and Medal of Merit of the Public Force 12.
This years celebration was done under the theme ”Army and Nation, Together let's overcome health security challenges and preserve the peace, stability and prosperity of Cameroon”
Unfortunately, due to the health challenges effecting the world as a whole, the usual march pass exercise was not experienced but awards handed at the governor's explanade.
Reacting shortly after the award ceremony, the Mayor of Tubah council Tanjong Martin says it is a great suprise and driving force to continue his work
"Receiving this medal is a great surprise to me I want to say thank you to the state for recognising me and encouraging me to continue working. This is a testimony that I have been working and I will continue working to make Tubah municipality the best" Mayor Tanjong hinted
"It is a very important recognition and it’s coming to culminate the good works that he and his team have been doing in the North West region for the past years. I want to dedicate this recognition to the fans and supporters, the management of PWD. It’s team work though I am the one in front, they are a lot of people working tirelessly. The Award ceremony recognised the efforts of Sports influential persons in the region, President of reigning champions PWD Social Club of Bamenda Abunde Pascal and Yong Jacques, President of 2013 winners of Cup of Cameroon Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda.
In a launch offered by North West Governor Adolphe Lele LAfrique, he called on the constructive forces of the nation not to relent their efforts to ensure that long lasting peace returns.
Lele LAfrique encouraged other hard working Cameroonians who have not been knighted to keep the flames alive as next year is another opportunity. To those deployed to work in the region, he explained to them that Bamenda and the North West is a place to be and stands amongst the places to be in Cameroon; "count yourselves lucky to have been asked to serve here. We must as a matter of fact ensure the beauty of this region comes back"
Amongst those knighted was the SDO of Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh who was raised to the Dignity of the Cameroon order of Valor, the highest individual distinction in Cameroon.
