Fence of a business guru to be demolished
For more than a decade, inhabitants of Bamenda have had to go through potholes, narrow roads and at times stay on the same spot for hours as water flows on main roads
To help salvage this situation of poor road network in the City of Bamenda, the World Bank awarded a double carriage way from Welcome to Bamenda through New road, Amour Mezam, Finance Junction through to Ngeng, Veterinary, City Chemist, Food Market, Metta Quarters and Ayaba street. The road is estimated to be 30 metres wide
Commission ensures that the road is 30 metres wide
The contract initially won by Satom construction company, has been handed to Edge since the escalation of the Anglophone crisis and the burning of a truck forced Satom to abandon projects in the region
Wednesday 3rd February 2021 saw the mapping of the road from Ecole Des Champions at station to Amour Mezam, what is popularly known as the New road
Hotels, homes of ordinary people, business gurus and outstanding politicians, business premises, churches, garages, storey buildings were all earmarked for destruction within 24 hours
Quizzed on the short notice given for people to vacate these premises, Mezam SDO, Simon Emile Mooh said "they were compensated since 2017. They should have left this place more than four years ago. Some people rather took money from the state to build news houses on the track of the road"

He further noted that "all houses constructed after the payment of indemnities will be not compensated"
A jubilant City Mayor of Bamenda, Paul Achobong, highlighted that the road project will create more than 500 direct jobs to the youth

When completed, the situation of road infrastructure will be greatly improved within the Bamenda city council area
The duration of the project and the estimated cost has not been made public as at press time
