The residence of the Mayor of Bamenda II Council, Chenwi Peter was burnt down in the evening of December 7th, 2020
The roof of the complex was set on fire which consumed the main building of six bed rooms and a parlour
A smaller apartment of four rooms lying behind the main building was not spared. It was roasted too
The burning down of the Mayors house adds to an attempt on his life in the month of July
He was shot at in Ntamulung. He escaped using his tundra car. Holes were spotted on the car as he drove off
Mayor Chenwi Peter has seen the construction of a fence around his mother's residence come under severe attack. The walls have been brought down anytime it is being mounted
A visibly relaxed Mayor prayed that God should forgive the perpetrators
"May God protect those who committed this act. May God cause them to reason and come back to their senses let's build this country together"
"I want to thank God almighty for the divine protection and breakthrough in my life. We worship God not human beings not cars" Mayor Chenwi Peter told the Observer
The Mayor who has adopted a participatory approach to development is calling on all and sundry to join him in the development strides of the subdivision
The Mayor has not set foot in the residence since the Anglophone crisis escalated in late 2017. His family however stopped living there a year ago
The house is standing on a 20 by 25 square kilometers in Ntasen
