Commuters have not had it easy plying some major roads in Bamenda since the heavy rains came visiting
Metta Quarters, T Junction, Ayaba street, Sonac street are all nightmares though it falls within the reconstruction plan of the Bamenda-Babadjou road that will see some 12km of inner city roads reconstructed
With the resumption of classes in Bamenda, the Ayaba street has come under heavy traffic
It is for this reason that the Mayor of the Bamenda II Council, Chenwi Peter together with councillors of his Municipality fielded potholes from Veterinary Junction to the public security junction with laterite
"It is the right of a Mayor to take charge of his assignments before the people. We were elected to serve and not to be served" The Mayor told the Press
The maintenance of urban city roads is not the prerogative of subdivisional councils but the Mayor hinted that the population is suffering reasons for the action
"The road is already on project but we cannot wait longer again because the population is suffering. So we decided to do maintenance while waiting"
Car owners expressed thanks to the council executive as they drove pass
This is the second time Mayor Chenwi Peter is doing repair works on that stretch with a hope that a permanent solution will come soon
